More About
John

John is a husband, dad of two daughters, and a lifelong Oregonian who grew up here.

John's your blue collar neighbor. He believes that government works best when the working Oregonians are represented. Like many Oregonians right now, he feels the struggle to make ends meet because he lives it everyday. John fixes things for a living, and he's ready to fix mass homelessness, our failing schools, and make our streets safe again.

John's a gear head.

John graduated from Clackamas Community College in auto mechanics in 1993. He's been working in auto parts and service for 30 years and started his own transmission repair shop, Sunshine Transmission, in 2019. He just celebrated his 37th anniversary of buying his first car, the same one he drives today. John's not afraid to get dirty to fix cars, and he's not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work to fix Oregon.

For the last 30 years, he's been drag racing (not the weird kind in libraries or the illegal kind on public streets in Portland) at the Portland International Raceway.

John's a person-first leader.

John understands that if you want to represent Oregonians, you need to know them and spend time with them. John has knocked on over 4,500 doors in our community to speak to - and most importantly - listen to voters and what they are concerned about. He believes strongly in connecting with those he is asking to represent.

As a result, John came within just over 600 votes from winning in the 2022 election. John has a unique understanding of the working class and the needs of our community that allows him to connect with everyday Oregonians.

John's a
fighter.

John learned how to be a fighter from his young daughter. At 20 weeks gestation, John and his wife got a call from the doctor that every parent dreads. Their daughter was diagnosed with a severe heart condition. He understands the importance of women's health and the importance of supporting expectant mothers. Two major heart surgeries and many hospital stays later, she is a healthy and energetic 4 year old.

John's a Family and Community Guy.

John grew up down the road in Milwaukie. He graduated from Milwaukie High School and has been in this community ever since. He's married to his wife, De Anne, who grew up in SE Portland and graduated from David Douglas High School. They have two young daughters. They live in the Damascus area and are committed to representing the individuals and families that make our communities strong.
